The Bekkersdal Development Hub was the scene of many community activities during the national Sixteen Days of Activism Campaign. The campaign, which took place from 25 November to 10 December, aims to promote awareness about the abuse of women and children. During the commemoration of this campaign in Bekkersdal, the Development Hub overflowed with the Who’s Who of showbiz, children from different schools, the Bekkersdal Renewal Project (BRP) team and many community and government stakeholders. The Bekkersdal Renewal Project’s sports teams triumphed at the BRP awards show held at Bekkersdal Development Hub (BDH) on 5 November 2008. The Award Ceremony was a culmination of the three-day sports festival aimed at increasing the awareness of violence against women and children, as part of the National 16 Days of Activism Campaign.
